Sew What?

Date: Wednesday 30th October

Time: 6-8pm (Registration from 5.30pm)

Venue: Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery

Entry: Free, but pre-registration is essential

Led by fashion historian, author and broadcaster, Amber Butchart, this panel discussion will explore how fashion and textiles is frequently used as a platform for protest, politics and self-expression. From utility workwear on the French boulevards to the re-emergence of the hoodie as the ‘ultimate symbol of exclusion and menace’, we articulate our ideas through what we choose to wear.

The event includes a performance by Aziz Ibrahim of music created for his commission for the
Peterloo Festival.

Pre-Registration is essential. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/sew-what-fashion-textiles-as-an-expression-of-contemporary-activism-tickets-74200925967
