Drop in to Hannah’s yarn winding workshop at Haworth Art Gallery!
Yarn windings are created by textile designers to test yarn and colour combinations for weaving or knitting. Come and learn the process with Hannah. It is simple and enjoyable, and allows for endless creativity with thread.
You will explore the colours and textures of yarns to compose mini textile artworks by winding threads around card. You can build up layers, stripes and blocks to create different patterns and shapes. Enjoy the feeling of the materials in your hands, and the exciting visual effects of the yarns. The process is playful and satisfying. Hannah will guide you to create different patterns and compositions as you go along.
Additionally, Hannah will bring her table loom. She will offer demonstrations and opportunities for visitors to try out simple weaving.
