Lancashire Textile Gallery Launch

As part of BTB23 we hosted the launch of The Lancashire Textile Gallery.

The Lancashire Textile Gallery is a long term collaboration between Gawthorpe Textiles Collection, the University of Central Lancashire and Super Slow Way / British Textile Biennial with contributions from museums and archives across Lancashire funded by the Heritage Fund as part of their Digital Skills for Heritage initiative.

Lancashire Textile Gallery digitally brings together objects and collections held by museums, archives and manufacturers from across the county, allowing you to explore themed exhibitions and artist commissions as well as interact by posting your comments; sharing additional info or your own stories to help us to create new narratives and curate your own collection of favourite items.

At this online people were introduced to the site by Gawthorpe Textile Collection Curator Rachel Midgley and heard from some of the artists and academics who have been commissioned to make work in response to the collections.

The launch was hosted by Amber Butchart.
