Embroidering Bark Cloth (Lubugo)
with Salford Slow Fashion
Come and experience stitching into Lubugo (bark cloth) during BTB25. During this workshop you will create your own symbol to stitch onto Lubugo fabric using inspiration from the embroidery in the Woven Worlds exhibition.
Lubugo is an ancient and culturally significant Ugandan fabric which has been in existence for over 700 years. The process of transforming the Mutuaba tree’s bark into a wearable fabric – predates weaving and remains largely unchanged since its inception. Lubugo is now listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
This is a FREE drop in workshop, no booking required.
