Volunteering roles at the British Textile Biennial


British Textile Biennial couldn’t happen without our brilliant volunteers working behind the scenes to get exhibitions ready and welcoming audiences to the festival spaces across East Lancashire. We have various roles suited to different interests and skill levels.

 

Roles

Exhibition Host: You will be in an exhibition space welcoming guests, answering questions and collecting feedback from visitors. This role will allow you to develop skills and In-depth learning about the artworks and artists featured as well as develop your communication skills.

Exhibition Tour Guide: You will get the opportunity to gain in depth knowledge and experience a wide range of the exhibitions by accompanying the public to different venues. You will be walking from venue to venue and answering questions on the way, which might require some local knowledge!

Exhibition/Production Assistant: This role provides an opportunity to work closely with artists and curators and gain knowledge of installing and curation. You will be working in exhibition spaces, maybe lifting or carrying and listening to instructions carefully. This is a very hands on role.

Exhibition Promoters/ Marketing: Help us spread the word and gain some social media experience This role could be on location or done remotely, sharing information about the Biennial to your own networks.
