Alexis Maxwell

Memory Fabric

Alexis Maxwell presents an immersive, sci-fi-inspired installation based on an imagined fabric that holds the memories of local people and the land around Pendle, exploring the speculative evolution of textiles, shaped by ecological memory and technological innovation.

Through projection mapping and nature-inspired sculpture, the project will imagine future fabrics that grow, shift and hold memory, blurring the lines between the organic and the artificial, the natural and the woven.
Using a blend of text, sound, projection and performance, Maxwell explores how the digital and physical worlds can overlap, co-creating with communities to discover new ways of telling their stories.

We’re delighted to be awarded funding from The Fenton Arts Trust to launch the BTB Emerging Artist Award and offer this commission opportunity to an exceptional early career artist from the North West, committed to developing their practice in a social context and hoping  to work with people and explore ideas collaboratively.

Delivered in partnership with In-Situ and This Is Nelson.
