British Council Delegation Roundtable
For BTB25, the British Council supported a delegation of seven artists, designers, and makers from across Southeast Asia to take part in a roundtable discussion and exchange of practice at The Whitaker, Rawtenstall.
Audiences were invited to join a roundtable of artists, designers, and makers from across Southeast Asia, Uganda and the UK for a discussion and exchange of practice chaired by writer, Debika Ray. Panellists include Prach Niyomkar of Mann Craft, Thailand; Pilan Thaisuang, founder of Bhukram, Thailand; Mariton Villanueva, textile designer, Philippines; Godfrey Katende, designer and founder of IGC Fashion, Uganda; Cheong See Min, artist, Malaysia; Marcos Kueh, artist, Malaysia; Lucille Junkere, artist, UK; and Rezia Wahid, artist, UK.
All these practitioners are engaged in craft traditions once dismissed as primitive, yet now reimagined as pathways to innovative futures and reclaimed histories —practices that nevertheless remain vulnerable in the face of today’s social and environmental challenges.
Presented by Conversations in Creativity and supported by the British Council.
