BTB25 Study Visit: Innovations in 19th Century Textiles
with Gawthorpe Textiles Collection
To coincide with this year’s British Textile Biennial themes of Invention and Innovation this in-person study day will take you on a journey through the textiles of the 19th century – a period when amazing innovations in technology and science shaped the way textiles were designed and made.
We will be studying examples of textiles produced using some of these new developments from roller printing and jacquard weaving to aniline dyeing and machine laces. We will also compare these to examples of the more traditional versions of these techniques to see how successfully they could imitate them.
More information available on the eventbrite page.
Places are limited for this study visit, tickets are £30 and available to book here on the eventbrite page.
