Future Past Online Panel #2

Global Perspectives on Textile Art & Culture

This is an online panel discussion which will be hosted on Zoom, the Zoom link will be sent to you 24 hours before the event begins.

Continuing the conversation initiated in Future Past #1 – Global Perspectives on Textile Art and Culture, this second online panel moderated by Laurie Peake brings together four international curators to further explore how textile practices embody cultural memory, identity, and speculative imagination.

Expanding on the themes of Future Past — the digital exhibition co-curated by the British Textile Biennial and Textile Culture Net (TCN) — this panel turns its focus to the ways in which textiles serve as repositories of collective and personal histories, while opening pathways to envision new futures.
Through a dialogue across diverse curatorial perspectives, the conversation will unfold across a wide range of cultural contexts — from Kiowa beadwork and Palestinian collective memory to digital fashion innovation and post-Soviet mythologies — revealing how textiles continue to carry both intimate and political narratives across generations and geographies.
