Hannah Robson

Transformation

Hannah Robson presents a monumental work that responds to the Harris’s archive of the Courtauld Factory and its production of Rayon in Preston in the impressive newly opened spaces of the museum.

As an artist and weaver, Hannah is interested in the spatial qualities of textiles and how their quiet ubiquity makes them a potent marker of time, change and human life. She explores the relationship between textiles and architecture and how textiles can amplify the elemental changes in environments. Transformation traces the evolution of Courtauld’s to reflect the changes in textile making in the 20th Century and their production of Rayon, the first commercially viable artificial fibre.
