The Salon Art Gallery

The Salon Art Gallery is a contemporary space dedicated to showcasing local and regional artists. It focuses on promoting a variety of artistic practices, including painting, sculpture, and photography. The gallery often hosts exhibitions, workshops, and events and aims to make art accessible to everyone, and foster a dialogue around contemporary issues and creative practices.

The Salon Art Gallery is housed in a former cotton warehouse that dates back to the 19th century. The building was originally constructed to store and distribute cotton goods, reflecting the town’s significant role in the textile manufacturing sector during the Industrial Revolution.

The architecture of the warehouse features characteristics typical of industrial buildings from that era, such as large windows for natural light and robust brick construction. This design facilitated the efficient storage and processing of cotton and other textiles.
