Aitor Throup – FROM THE MOOR
For BTB25, multi-disciplinary artist and fashion designer Aitor Throup presents ‘FROM THE MOOR’ – a retrospective exhibition showcasing Throup’s groundbreaking designs, sculptures and drawings from the past 20 years.
The exhibition will be housed in his hometown of Burnley, Lancashire, to mark the finale of the British Textile Biennial. Following the news of Throup’s return to the fashion world, the immersive exhibition will take place at the Burnley Empire – an iconic Grade II listed Victorian theatre in the heart of Burnley. The historic venue has been out of use since 1995 and is considered “At Risk” by the Theatres Trust.
Through their partnership, Aitor Throup and British Textile Biennial will breathe new life into the iconic Grade II Listed building, and shine a spotlight on the works to restore and reuse the large venue for modern use.
A secondary smaller exhibition of Throup’s sculptures and drawings will take place at OneTwoThree – a building where once stood the retail store where the young Throup was inspired by the works of Massimo Osti, namely the brands C.P. Company and Stone Island – two brands with whom Throup would later collaborate.
Tickets for this exhibition will be available on a strict pre-order basis through our website, more information to follow.
